Marketing trick or real step change? Anthropic gives access to their new model "Mythos" first to critical software infrastructure providers so they can harden their systems first.

Sound familiar? Sam Altman pulled this exact move with GPT releases - "too powerful for public release" became his signature marketing playbook.

The question is whether Anthropic actually discovered something groundbreaking or just copied OpenAI's hype machine.

Looking at the benchmark numbers, Mythos might genuinely be capable of finding zero-day exploits. That would be a legitimate reason to let infrastructure teams prepare first.

But here's the thing - we've seen this movie before. Remember when GPT-4 was supposedly too dangerous? Then it launched and while impressive, the world didn't end.
