Europe's AI Wake-Up Call: Build Sovereign Capabilities or Become a Vassal

The banning of the Mythos class Fable model from Anthropic by the US should be a wake-up call for Europe.

Here's the thing about AI: it's not just another tech trend.

It's becoming as fundamental as electricity.

And think about it. We would never hand over the keys to our power grid to another nation. Not even to our closest allies.

So why are we comfortable handing over the keys to AI?

Because that's exactly what's happening. When a single model can be banned overnight by a government decision an ocean away, you realize how exposed we are. This is just what happened with Fable from Anthropic.

If Europe doesn't build its own AI, we don't stay partners. We become vassals.

We need European data centers. European models. European independence.

And here's the part that gives me hope: the Chinese are proving the open source route works. World-class models, built in the open, free from any single gatekeeper.

That path is open to us too.
