Saudi Arabia's Accidental Blueprint for the Post-Work AI Economy

AI and Robots may turn us all into Saudi Arabia - but not how you think.

Who's actually ready for a world where AI does all the work?

The USA? Their entire identity is built on "work hard, pull yourself up by your bootstraps." Hard pivot needed.

China? They've gone full capitalist, but maybe their comfort with state control gives them an edge in managing the transition.

Europe? We've got social safety nets down to an art form. <ee invented most economic systems anyway - capitalism, socialism, facism, so including the really terrible ones...

But here's the plot twist: Saudi Arabia and other oil states are accidentally living in the future already.

Their economies run on natural resources, not human labor. They're already keeping people busy with jobs that exist more for social stability than economic necessity.

When AI and robots take over production, the Saudis won't need to reinvent their entire economic model. Maybe they they'll just swap oil revenues for AI-generated wealth and keep the same distribution system. Funny how things are sometimes ...

The rest of us? We're about to learn what it's like to live in a post-work economy. It will be interesting times.
