Why Bad Engineers and Legends Both Love AI Coding Tools While Average Developers Don't

Why do both terrible engineers (like PMs^^) and engineering legends both swear by Claude Code, while everyone in the middle barely gets value out of it?

It's the classic bell curve meme playing out in real time.

Bad engineers (yes, looking at you PMs 😉) love AI coding tools because they finally can ship something that works. They're not precious about their craft - they just want results.

The middle majority? They're paralyzed by doubt. "What if the AI introduces bugs? What if I don't understand the code? What if this makes me look incompetent?"

But the legends? They get it. They use Claude Code as a force multiplier, not a replacement. They review everything, understand the output, and iterate fast. They're confident enough in their skills to leverage any tool that accelerates delivery.

The irony is brutal: the people who need AI help the least extract the most value from it.

This mirrors what I see across product development. The best teams aren't afraid of new tools - they're afraid of staying slow while competitors move faster.

Trust in your fundamentals unlocks AI's real potential.
